 NSW Country Link runs a train service from Sydney to Narrabri and return. The trains offer two classes of travel, have buffet car and free wi-fi service on board. Trains leave Sydney Central Station about 9.30 am and arrive in Narrabri about 4.50 pm. The return service departs Narrabri at 9.10 am arriving Central Station about 4.40 pm.

It is a slower way to travel but it is restful with some amazing scenery as you move through the Hawkesbury area, the mining areas of the Hunter Valley and the then the northwest plains.
