  Oral Presenter Information

We appreciate your time and ask you read the instructions to ensure deadlines and expectations as an Oral Presenter are met. Please find below more details on requirements for presentations.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay by 30 September 2022.

Oral Presentations
Please refer to the program schedule to view the day and time of your presentation.

The program is made up of four presentation platforms; symposia (75 minutes), long oral (15 minutes), short oral (5 minutes) and 3 minute thesis competition entries.

  • Symposia: Symposia sessions run for 75 minutes and incorporate a series of co-ordinated presentations within a theme. Symposia presenters are free to allocate the time within their session as they choose, but are encouraged to include time for questions and discussion. Please see the Symposium Presentation instructions here for further information.
  • Long Oral: Long oral presentations are 15 minutes, comprising of 12 minutes for your presentation and 3 minutes for questions. Multiple authors can jointly deliver long oral presentations, but all authors named in the program must register for the conference. Please advise HSR2022@eventstudio.com.au if you have non-presenting authors named in the program.
  • Short "5x5" Oral: Short oral presentations are 5 minutes in length with a maximum of 5 slides (not including your title slide). Questions will not be taken between each “5x5” presentation, but 5-10 minutes will be allocated to ask questions of any of the “5x5” presenters at the end of the session. Due to the brief nature of these presentations, only one presenting author is permitted. Please advise HSR2022@eventstudio.com.au if you would like to make a change to the presenting author listed in the draft program
  • 3 Minute Thesis (3MT):
Entrants in the 3 minute thesis competition will have 3 minutes for their presentation and one slide. The competition will run according to rules published by the University of Queensland.

Preparing for your Presentation

All session rooms will be equipped with a laptop (Windows), lectern, microphone, lapel microphone and data projector supplied by the in-house av contractor. It is recommended that you use these laptops and play back devices.

If you must use your own laptop, advise this office before 31 October 2022. Ensure you bring the appropriate adaptors and please note that the venue will not provide any technical support for equipment it does not own and maintain.

The preferred method of presentation is via PowerPoint. PowerPoint presentations should be prepared in wide screen 16:9 (not standard 4:3 format). You must bring your presentation to the conference on USB Flash drive for it to be loaded onto the Conference system by an audiovisual technician in the speakers’ preparation room. Please have your presentation saved under your last/family name.

On Arrival

Presenters are requested to report to the registration desk on arrival. You will be directed to the speaker preparation area where your presentation will be uploaded and verified. If you have a MAC or special presentation requirements, please see the technical operators in the speaker preparation area for assistance. Meet with your session chairperson in the session room 10-15 minutes prior to the commencement of the session. If at all possible, please check your presentation material in the speaker preparation area well before your presentation time to avoid any problems when you present.
