We are proud that the Health Services Research Conference 2022 has ‘Consumers Included’ status provided by Cancer Voices Australia. This reflects that the perspectives of patients, survivors and other members of the public affected by cancer and other health related issues are part of the planning and delivery of the Conference.

Glossary of key terms in HSR 

As part of our commitment to supporting consumers and early career researchers to attend the conference, we have prepared a glossary of key terms in Health Services Research. The glossary will be available at the registration desk, or can be downloaded HERE.


Invitation to health consumers to submit an Expression of Interest for a Consumer Scholarship to attend the Health Services Research Conference Australia and New Zealand 2022 

The Health Services Research Association of Australia and New Zealand (HSRAANZ) was founded in 2001 to facilitate communication across the health services research community, to bridge the gap between researchers and policy makers, to promote education and training, and to ensure the sustainability of health services research in Australia and New Zealand. Every two years, HSRAANZ holds a 3-day conference to provide its members with an opportunity to hear updates from relevant agencies, share learnings, and discuss the future of health services research.

In 2022, the conference will be held at The University of Sydney in Camperdown from the 30th of November to the 2nd of December. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Resilience, innovation and value through research’. This year we have received a grant from Bellberry Limited to support consumer participation in the conference. This includes five scholarships for consumers to attend the conference. The scholarships will cover the cost of registration and up to $200 towards travel and/or accommodation  for health consumers with an interest in becoming more acquainted with how health services research works, the challenges and opportunities being faced, and networking with those developing the next generation of health services research projects. 

All health consumers with an interest in health services research are welcome. Consumers attending the conference will be supported with a glossary of key terms, a CCRew badge to identify them as a consumer attendee, a conference ‘buddy’ during the conference, and access to a dedicated consumer space throughout the conference. The conference has a number of sessions devoted to exploring and embracing consumers in the work of the industry.

If you are a health consumer interested in attending to help you understand or work with health services research, please submit your expression of interest to attend by completing the form below by Friday, 5th of November AEST.

 

 

To apply for the scholarship, you must:

1. Identify primarily as a patient, carer or health consumer, not professionally involved in health and medical research or the healthcare industry (other than as a consumer advocate/representative).

2. Be able to attend the meeting in person for at least 1 day;

3. Complete the expressions of interest form by 5pm on Friday, 5th of November 2022.

4. Consent to the information you provide on this form being used to facilitate registration (as appropriate).

5. Be contactable by no later than Friday 12th of November to discuss acceptance of the scholarship (to those confirmed) and confirm registration details (if appropriate, and not already confirmed)

6. Complete the scholarship acceptance form (if selected), which will outline expectations of respect, confidentiality and appropriate social media use at the conference.

7. Be willing to discuss your experiences with a health researcher who is conducting an evaluation of the activities within the conference designed to increase and improve consumer engagement in the conference.

7. Be willing to accept HSRAANZ decision and terms of award of the scholarship.

 

Expressions of interest will be assessed based on:

1. Ability and willingness to attend the meeting in person.

2. Your reasons for attending the conference;

3. A completed application form.

The application form will take about 5mins to complete, depending on how much you want to think about your answers. The form is available online, or can be submitted via email. We will notify all applicants via email of the outcome of the applications by Wednesday, 9th of November, 2022.

Health consumers who would like to attend the conference but who are not successful in applying for a scholarship, or who have alternative sources of funding and support, should email hsr2022@eventstudio.com.au to register. Registration fees for health consumers are set at our lowest rate of $440 for full conference registration.”

 

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Application Form (for those unable to access the online form)

For noting: The information you submit will be stored on a password protected file on the Northern Health server until the conclusion of the conference. The form submitted will be seen by employees of HSRAANZ and members of the conference consumer advisory steering committee involved in reviewing applications. Selected information may be made available to consumer support volunteers at the conference to facilitate your requirements, with your permission in advance. Your name and organisation as listed below will be made available on your conference name badge.
