Instructions for Lightning Talk Presenters

We appreciate your time and ask you read the instructions to ensure deadlines and expectations as a Lightning Talk Presenter are met. Please find below more details on requirements for presentations. 

Abstracts submitted and accepted as accepted Lightning Talk Presentations will be delivered live at the Conference. Lightning Talk Presentations are 10 minutes in length, where presenters share a teaching approach, strategy, innovative idea and/or research.

Only presenting authors are listed on the program and will display as per your original submission. If the author/s listed on the program are not the presenting author/s, or you wish to withdraw your presentation, please advise the Conference Manager at your earliest convenience by emailing AATEALEA2024@eventstudio.com.au.


Lightning Talk Presentation Instructions 

  • All Presenters are to register for their attendance at the conference by 22 May 2024.
  • Prior to attending the Conference in Adelaide, checking the program is essential to confirm your allocated session and time.
  • Accepted Lightning Talk Presentations are 10 minutes in duration.
  • Presenters are encouraged to use a maximum of five slides.
  • Authors of accepted abstracts are expected to present live at the Conference in Adelaide. 
  • A chair will be assigned to your session who will introduce your presentation and ensure the program is kept to time. Chairs will be assigned closer to the dates of the conference and will be reflected in the program. 
  • Lightning Talk Presentations must not be any longer than the allocated 10 minute time slot and the nominated chairperson onsite will ensure the program stays on time.

Presenter Registration

A presenter is deemed the nominated person/s who will present an oral paper. All presenting authors must register by 22 May 2024. Please use the unique link sent to your nominated email to register where possible. This link will save you time as it has pre populated information and links to your presentation account in the Conference Managers system. Co-presenters can register via the registration form here.

On Arrival

Preparing your Presentation for the Conference

Please refer to the program schedule to view the day and time of your presentation HEREThe program is subject to change, please ensure you download the most recent program. 

If preparing a presentation, the preferred method of presentation is via PowerPoint. PowerPoint presentations should be prepared in wide screen 16:9 (not standard 4:3 format). You must bring your presentation to the conference on USB Flash drive for it to be loaded onto the Conference system by an audio visual technician. Please have your presentation saved under your last/family name.

Session Rooms

All session rooms will be equipped with a laptop, lectern, internet connection, lapel microphone, data projector and hand held slide presenter / laser pointer (clicker) supplied by the venue. It is recommended that you use the venue laptops and play back devices.

Rooms will be set up cabaret style (round tables with 8 seats) for all Workshops. If you are preparing notes, handouts, material etc for your session, this is at your own expense. Please advise the Event Studio Team if you have other requirements. 

If you must use your own laptop, please advise this office before 7 June 2024. Ensure you bring the appropriate adaptors and please note that the venue will not provide any technical support for equipment it does not own and maintain.

Presenter Registration

Presenters are requested to report to the registration desk on arrival. You will be directed to meet the technician in your allocated presentation room where your presentation will be uploaded and verified. If you have a MAC or special presentation requirements, please speak to the venue technical operators for assistance. If at all possible, please check your presentation material with a venue technician well before your presentation time to avoid any problems when you present.

We further recommend you arrive ready to set up for your presentation in the session room 10-15 minutes prior to the commencement of the session. This time is important to meet your session chair, familairise yourself with the room and ensure you are ready to commence your presentation / session on time. 

Speaker Support Room & Technical Assistance

A floating technician will be available throughout the Program to assist all presenters with any technical questions or issues that may arise on the day.

A Speaker Support Room will be available for presenters to upload conference presentations at the following times:

Thursday 11 July 7.30am – 4.30pm
Friday 12 July 7.30am – 4.30pm
Saturday 13 July 7.30am – 11.30am

AATE ALEA holds the continuing right to use, distribute, archive, copy and edit abstracts and all supporting material accompanying the Presentation, in whole or in part for 6 months after the conference.
