Telix Pharmaceuticals

Telix is a commercial stage radiopharmaceutical company focused on the development of diagnostic and therapeutic “theranostic” products using Molecularly Targeted Radiation (MTR). Telix’s investigational products address significant unmet medical need in oncology, immunology, and rare diseases. Telix is headquartered in Melbourne with international operations in Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, and the United States. Telix was established in 2015 and is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: TLX).

Most cancer drugs, including modern targeted therapies, are only able to kill a subset of cancer cells that exist within a tumour, enabling some to survive and continue to grow. MTR delivers highly targeted radiation selectively to the cancer cells regardless of their location within the body, destroying both the cancer cells themselves as well as the supporting cells and blood vessels within the tumour, while sparing adjacent healthy tissues.

Telix’s core development pipeline is focused on prostate, kidney, glioblastoma (brain) and hematologic (blood) cancers.

In November 2021, Telix received its first marketing authorisation approval for Illuccix® (TLX591-CDx, Kit for the preparation of 68Ga PSMA-11 injection) for prostate cancer imaging, from the Australian TGA. TLX591-CDx has also been accepted for filing by the U.S. FDA, and marketing authorisation applications are being progressed in Europe and Canada.

TLX591-CDx combines gallium-68 (68Ga) with a marker known as prostate specific membrane antigen 11 (PSMA-11) to detect prostate cancer throughout the body, using positron emission tomography (PET). PSMA-PET is emerging as a new standard of care for prostate cancer imaging, having recently been included in the updated National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN) Guidelines®.

On the therapy side, Telix recently initiated its ProstACT program of trials investigating TLX591 in prostate cancer, which includes a global Phase III study.

Telix’s second investigational imaging product for kidney cancer, specifically, clear cell renal cell carcinoma cancer (ccRCC), TLX250-CDx (89Zr-DFO-girentuximab) is in the final stages of patient enrolment in a pivotal Phase III ‘ZIRCON’ study, conducted over 34 sites across Australia, Europe, and the United States.

During 2021, Telix commenced a Phase II study of investigational kidney cancer therapy TLX250 in combination with immunotherapy, and reported encouraging topline results in the IPAX-1 Ph I/II study of TLX101 in combination with external beam radiation therapy in recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most common and aggressive form of primary brain cancer.

With the exception of Illuccix in Australia, none of Telix’s products have received a marketing authorisation in any jurisdiction.

The Australian Radioactive Waste Agency (ARWA) is leading the process to responsibly manage our nation’s radioactive waste now and into the future.

We’re establishing a single, safe and purpose-built facility that will permanently dispose of Australia’s low-level radioactive waste and temporarily store its intermediate-level waste.

Radioactive materials have a range of uses. They’re used to diagnose and treat heart, lung and musculoskeletal conditions, and certain cancers. It’s likely that all Australians will benefit from nuclear medicine in their lifetime.

With these benefits comes a responsibility to safely manage radioactive waste.
