Prof. Tim Van den Wyngaert
Tim Van den Wyngaert is a Professor at the University of Antwerp and a Senior Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at the Antwerp University Hospital (UZA), Belgium. He studied medicine and obtained his PhD at the University of Antwerp while also receiving clinical training in internal medicine and nuclear medicine at the Antwerp University Hospital (UZA). Professor Van den Wyngaert became a staff member and postdoctoral researcher at UZA in 2010, and a tenured faculty member in 2015. Professor Van den Wyngaert’s areas of interest include molecular imaging, bone disease, and onco-osteology. His current research interests include the clinical development of bone SPECT/CT in benign and malignant diseases, and the (pre)clinical validation of PET tracers for imaging the hallmarks of cancer. Ongoing projects include the use of immunoPET imaging of RANKL, as well as bone SPECT/CT in orthopedics. He is the chairman of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine’s Bone and Joint Committee and the Secretary General elect of the Belgian Society of Nuclear Medicine (BELNUC). Professor Van den Wyngaert has authored numerous papers in international, peer-reviewed journals and is an editorial board member of the European Journal of Hybrid Imaging and the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Research.
