We cordially invite you to attend ANZAHPE 2021!
We are excited to announce that ANZAHPE is pivoting to a fully Virtual Conference in 2021 in lieu of the traditional three-day conference. This is the most responsible path forward to maintain safe conditions for our delegates, presenters and exhibitors, and overcome the uncertainty regarding the continuation of interstate and international travel restrictions in July 2021.
The virtual conference will offer the same rich content and broad range of presentation platforms as past face-to-face meetings. It is envisaged there will be selected live sessions, pre-recorded presentations and live Q&A, interactive symposia and breakout sessions, poster sessions, a Virtual Exhibit Hall, and on demand access to selected content for registered attendees following the conclusion of the Conference. This will be delivered through a state-of-the art and easy to use virtual community platform.
Festival Theme - 2021 Moving Forward in Ambiguity
Ambiguity is an essential element of the human condition, and dealing with ambiguity is an essential pre-requisite of successful practice in the Health Professions. The year 2020 seems to have dealt us with more than enough ambiguity to last a lifetime, though, a critical reflection would conclude that we have (are) navigating this successfully, and moving rapidly to profoundly changed and new landscapes.
This is no more true than for ANZAHPE and its Conference. Will we, won’t we? What is it going to look like? What is the best way of connecting with our community?
What we do know is that the conference represents the social and academic lifeblood of the Association, and in many ways is our raison d’être. We also know, at this stage, aiming for a full, usual, face-to-face would be foolhardy, and that our forays into online presentations have been welcomed, well-supported and successful. ANZAHPE has therefore decided that it will go ahead with an online ‘conference’ in 2021, to be held sometime in the first two weeks of July.
Many things are undecided. These include whether we will try to emulate the face to face program with a 2-3 day, all-day engagement, or if we spread things out over a longer period in a “Festival” style; how do we try to get the right balance between the academic and social/networking goals of the exercise, and whether we support local social/networking activities in a range of venues. (For example the Christchurch organising committee, as the original hosts of the 2021 conference, has offered to host a one day face to face event in New Zealand linking into the on-line presentations but scheduling networking and social opportunities as well) These are the sorts of questions that a group will be working on over the next several months, and we will provide opportunities to obtain input into those decisions
We do know that it is important that people that the opportunity to submit abstracts, and communicate with their community about the important work they are doing, to learn and grow and advance their careers.
