CALL FOR ABSTRACTS CLOSED 


The Organising Committee invites abstract submissions for presentations at the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM) 51st Annual Scientific Meeting 2021. Submissions from all disciplines of Nuclear Medicine are invited for poster and oral presentations.

The Committee will integrate sets of individual oral papers into thematic sessions. Length of presentations will be determined once all submissions have been reviewed.

Call for Abstracts - CLOSED 

To be selected to present you are required to submit an abstract via the website. All abstracts must be submitted electronically. You will be requested to complete an online form and upload your abstract suitable for blind review via the ANZSNM 2021 Presentation Portal as a MS Word .doc or .docx file.

Please read the abstract submission process, formatting and guidelines below to successfully submit an abstract.

  • Radiation Safety and Dose Reduction Strategies
  • Radiopharmacy and radiochemistry
  • Artificial intelligence/Machine learning
  • Education and Training (incl. advanced practice, education principles etc.
  • Patient advocacy and advocacy for the profession
  • General nuclear medicine (musculoskeletal, respiratory, endocrine, renal, gastrointestinal)
  • Precision nuclear medicine
  • New horizons (incl. novel developments, novel applications etc., pre-clinical through to clinical trials)
  • Other (eg regulatory, policy, soft skills etc.)

General Guidelines for Submissions

Abstracts will only be accepted by submitting through the online process. The abstract content must be uploaded into the system in a Microsoft Word .doc or .docx format.

Abstracts must not exceed 300 words.

Formatting

Important Information

Abstracts will be blind reviewed. Please do not list authors and affiliations in your abstract. Add author names and affiliations as part of the online submission form.

  • Paper Title: Sentence case, Arial, font size 12 Bold
  • Descriptive text: Sentence case, Arial font size 10. Single spacing (1.0) * Note that characters and symbols must be inserted into the document using the INSERT SYMBOL function, not by changing the font, and please do not use document styles
  • The abstract, with subheadings, should be in the following form: Background, Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusion. For case studies, the abstract, with subheadings, should be in the following form: Case description, Procedures performed, Findings, Outcome, Discussion
  • Do NOT include references
  • Overall word count, excluding the scientific title, authors and affiliations must not exceed 300 words. Abstracts that exceed this limit risk not being considered for award categories or oral presentation, and may be returned for rewriting
  • Abbreviations: full text on first mention followed by the abbreviation of first parenthesis. Please do not submit abstracts where the material has been published in full prior to the abstract deadline
  • May contain up to one diagram, table or graphic
  • Tables: Tables can be included with abstracts and must be cited in the abstract text. The abstracts themselves must be in text, not table format
  • Figures: All figures should be cited in the text of the abstract.

Six awards are on offer for the 2021 meeting - GMS Poster Award, The Curium (formerly Mallinckrodt) Award, Shimadzu Award, Nuclear Medicine Undergraduate Student Award, Radpharm Award* and AANMS Registrar Research Award.

Terms & Agreements for Abstract Submissions

Below are ANZSNM 2021 ASM Terms and Agreements for abstract submissions. As submitting author and authorised representative of this abstract submission you certify that you understand and agree to terms and conditions as stated by indicating your acceptance when prompted during the online abstract submission process. You will not be able to submit the abstract unless you agree to all terms and conditions for ANZSNM 2021 ASM below:

Summary

  • It is expected all authors will receive notification of outcome of their submission from mid March 2021
  • All presenting authors must register and pay by 5 April 2021 otherwise the paper will be removed from the program.
  • The committee reserves the right to accept or reject abstracts for inclusion in the program.
  • Abstracts received after the closing date will not be accepted.
  • Responsibility for the accuracy of abstracts rests with the submitting/presenting author.
  • The Organising Committee and Conference Organisers will not be held responsible for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.
  • It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure that the abstract is submitted correctly.
  • An abstract which does not adhere to these specifications will not be accepted.

ANZSNM reserves all rights to accepted abstracts between the date of acceptance and the date of presentation at the 2021 ANZSNM Annual Meeting (embargo rights). Under this reservation of rights ANZSNM will manage various publications of abstracts including, but not limited to, journals, CDs, Internet publications, and PR and promotional materials for the 2021 ANZSNM Annual Scientific Meeting. Once an abstract has been presented, abstract copyrights revert to authors; however, ANZSNM holds the continuing right to use accepted abstracts (and included tables and images) in ANZSNM publications, abstract CDs, press releases and reprints.

Double Submission

The abstract, or one that is essentially the same (“duplicate”), has not been submitted more than once to the ANZSNM 2021. The submitting author understands that if duplicate abstracts are determined by the Scientific Committee, the abstract(s) will be removed from the program.

Publication

Abstracts presented at the 51st ANZSNM ASM will be published as a supplement to Internal Medicine Journal.
