Call FOR Abstracts - Now Open

The Call for Abstracts for the annual ANZAHPE Conference/Festival, to be held online during the first two weeks of July 2021, is now open. The theme is Moving forward in Ambiguity, and we invite health professional educators, clinical educators, educational researchers, health education providers, health professional students, and anyone involved in innovative health profession educational practice to consider submitting an abstract.

If you have never considered a submission before, we urge you to take this opportunity to become an active part of the conference by sharing your experiences and visions for the future with fellow delegates. You will find it a professionally rewarding and stimulating experience.

Abstract Submission Information

  • Please remember, as per previous communications, we will consider abstracts that were accepted for the ANZAHPE 2020 conference.
  • Presentation formats are Free Scholarship presentations and Personally Arranged Learning Sessions (PeArLS)
  • While we will supply definitive presentation requirements closer to the time of the Festival, Free Scholarship presentations are either 5 minutes (for Ongoing Work) or 10 minutes (Completed Work) in duration, and may be either pre-recorded or presented live. This category encompasses the old formats of Oral Presentations and Posters. There will be allocated time for discussion in each session.
  • PeArLS, as usual, will consist of a 45 minute session, with no more than 5 minutes’ initial presentation, with key questions to be discussed by participants.

The organising committee will make a themed call for symposia and workshops at a later date, as our ideas around the conference/festival develop.

In the past, we have provided formalised templates for different presentation styles.  Our experience has been that these have not really helped the organising committee, and anecdotal feedback has been that they do not necessarily prove to be of much assistance to presenters.  In alignment with the conference theme, this year things will be much more free-form.

Review Process

Abstracts will be assessed by two reviewers for quality and also fit with the conference theme. The scientific committee reserves the right to limit acceptance for a standard oral, symposium, or PeArLs to one abstract per presenting author or team, to support a varied and balanced programme. The abstract assessment criteria are:

  • The purpose/ aim is aligned with the chosen presentation format (e.g. PeArLs).
  • The abstract presents a new idea, defined gap, or need.
  • The findings, discussion, questions, or activities are likely to contribute to the development of health professions education.

Acceptance or otherwise is at the discretion of the Conference Program Committee. The contact author will be advised in writing of the Committee’s decision in March/April 2021.

Terms and Conditions

Submissions are accepted on the basis that all presenting authors must register and pay the appropriate conference fee. Co-presenters are allowed, but must register for the day of their presentation (as a minimum) if they wish to present.
